Who We Are

In May of 1987, the Metropolitan Council for Community Services completed a Chattanooga Survey of the Homeless. This effort was the primary impetus for the development of the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition (CRHC). In 1995, CRHC was established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Since 1998, CRHC has been the lead agency instrumental in the development and preparation of the Chattanooga / Southeast TN Continuum of Care (CoC) and has expanded this effort to include eleven counties.

In 1999, the Coalition became the host for the region’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The HMIS exists to track services to persons experiencing homelessness to ensure resources are maximized.

In 2021, CRHC became the host of the Flexible Housing Fund, a fund designed to remove financial barriers that prevent persons experiencing homelessness from being housed. That September, CRHC secured $2.3 million for the CoC to prevent and end homelessness.

In 2022, CRHC was contracted by the City of Chattanooga to lead the homeless response system in the community, to include publishing a Strategic Plan to Address and End Homelessness.

In 2023, CRHC hosted a statewide conference to educate service providers and individuals on best practices to end homelessness, while providing a space for creativity and collaboration among those serving the homeless community.

CRHC provides ongoing training and workshops to CoC members. CoC membership is open to any public or private agency, faith-based organization, concerned citizen, or person with lived experience of homelessness who is interested in improving the homeless response system in our community.
